looks nice. I saw one at a Microsoft Store, and for the first time, I actually walked into the store to have a look. I hate where Apple is taking it's products in terms of deciding which ports I should have on which devices (the main reason I won't update my current MacBook Pro to the new one), and despite the fact that I've been tempted to go back to Windows, I'm hesitant because, well, it's windows, and it's what drove me to Mac in the first place. I've heard Windows 10 is more stable, but I need to be sure I'm not going to be re-installing it every six months.....

Yeh, do your own homework on Windows. I did and am not happy with what I'm seeing. Sometimes things change but stay the same.

I would kill for a youtube video of you working in Lightroom on the Surface Pro 4 with the stylus. Just so curious to see what that workflow looks like.

And yeah I don't see how Windows 10 could be a bad thing. I'm in post 8 hours a day and the only apps I run are LR, PS, and Mail. Occasionally open Safari to take a Twitter break or something. No idea how Windows 10 could be a bad experience when I'd be doing so little with it. In the old days Mac was so much faster at basic

I don't use the stylus on the Pro.....I have a thumb trackball mouse that I have grown accustomed to for over 15 years....unfortunately this old dog finds it very difficult to change that part of my workflow.

The Pro screen is too little for me to really get comfortable attacking it with the pen. Sure you can do it, but when I saw the size of studio, I thought there is the answer. I have my Pro through the docking block driving my 24" ViewSonic screen.

When I get a workflow going with Studio, I will post up a video.....

So, what do I have to do to replicate things changing but staying the same? I have not had that wonderful experience....short of operator error.

I confess I don't have direct experience with Windows 10...but I had plenty experience with all Windows up to and including Windows 7. Many...many issues with lock ups, slow downs, crashes etc... this is from my personal computers at home and our enterprise systems at work.

I've done some research on Windows 10 and am seeing the same issues being experienced by frustrated users. Maybe 10 is more stable, but I for one still have a bad Windows taste in my mouth.

you need to be careful what you write, it came across like you had first hand experience. People might start to call your comments into question everytime.....your credibility is what is at stake......

Actually if you read carefully I did say I did my homework and said others would do it he same. In a previous post I also mentioned doing some research on the net of issues with Win10. No where did I say or imply I have direct experience with it...in fact I stated I use Mac OS for my processing.

The more I read stuff like this the more I think the Mac people are just BS'ing... Many... many issues.

I'm writing this on a Windows 7 Pro machine I built myself almost 4 years ago. The only and I mean only one issue I've had with it so far was... wait for it... a faulty firmware on Crucial SSD. The issue was well documented, unfortunately, my particular drive was totally bricked beyond repair. The store I bought it in replaced it under warranty with a Samsung EVO drive that's been flawless since. Hardly a Microsoft's or Windows's fault. I'm also using a Win 7 Pro laptop for my office work and editing in the field I bought earlier this year. The only issue with it so far was, the certain batch of Windows Updates disrupted the sleep/hibernate feature. These were not critical, not recommended but only optional updates. The solution was simple - uninstall these 3 or 4 recommended updates and the sleep/hibernation worked flawlessly ever since. So yes, a little bit of Microsoft's fault. My previous laptop also had a Windows 7 Home Edition. It was a painfully slow beast (surprisingly long battery life though) that ran day in day out for 6 straight years 8 or sometimes 12 hours each and every single day.

By the way, I've also had the dreaded Windows 95 for a long time back in the day. I could do nasty things like instant power off (that was before ATX time, so you hit that power button and it simply powered down right there and then). It ran rock solid and the only thing I did to it was to pre-emptively reinstall it about once every 1-1.5 years.

So excuse me, but unless you had terrible IT guys in your enterprise and your employees did nothing but browse shoddy porn websites, I simply refuse to believe Ken Rockwells and Chez's of this world who say that they are constantly on Microsoft's hotline for two hours every day because their PC refuses to print... Yes, Ken Rockwell actually wrote that somewhere on his page.

The comment was pointing out some of the significant differences between the Surface Studio and the dmacmillan's personal system. Also relating my personal experience actually using the product to create. It was supposed to informative, not evangelical.

And besides, what do you really know about this topic? You haven't even tried a Surface Studio or Windows 10, have you?

I'm not trying to convince anyone to do anything, but if I were, you'd be the last person on my target list. You are apparently content to ignore anything new that's not in your current setup. That's fine, but some people may be more interested in shiny new things (particularly if those things might be workflow-enhancing) than you are.

The OS doesn't matter until it does...that is the problem with Windows. I've looked at the issues people are having with Windows 10...there still seems to be a lot. Until the OS truly fades into the background...your sublime experience will be rudely interrupted...at least that is my frustrated experience with Windows.

OK, thanks for that truism. I have Windows 10 on a Wacom Cintiq Companion 2, and it has truly been trouble free... for almost a year now. You can read about all the issues other people are having with Windows on complaint forums, but it's not as if recent incarnations of MacOS haven't been plenty buggy as well. I use Macs at home and work, and while the overall catastrophic failure rate is low, they do have lots of periodic issues that call for reboots. Windows, by contrast, has improved considerably since 7 and 8.1. You really should avoid knocking things before you try them.

Hey guys, just remembered, the surface studio is designed from end to end by Microsoft. So theoretically the hardware is in perfect sync with the software. This is (wisely) mimicking apple and should make for a more stable windows 10 experience. That's the idea anyway
