UPDATE: Color version added to Post #8

My first visit to downtown Philly. I'm really not a "street photographer". Mainly because I just don't have time to hang out in the city, but I can see how I could enjoy it.

I just really liked this old book store. You really have to see the full resolution file to appreciate it. There's so much there!

Good shot and I bet there could have been more inside.

Wonderful image, so many things to see, I especially like the old doors on the left.

Thank you! I would have loved to go inside. I'm sure I could have spent hours in there, but my wife and kiddos were already waiting on me at the crosswalk. .

Thank you Ray! Those doors are actually what caught my attention initially. I took special care to preserve them during the conversion as well.

Thanks Tom! I sure hope to. I don't live too far from downtown Cincinnati, so maybe I can get over there more often and practice.

This is cross-posted in the black and white forum, so I don't want to add it to the OP, but thought some might like to see the color version as well.

I hate when I do this, because I can never decide if I like B&W or color better.

Works both ways, IMO. I love BW but I prefer the color here. I think the balance of greens keeps the scene contained and controls the busy-ness......which is one reason I sometime go BW.

The BW talks to me in a way the color doesn't. With the BW image there is isolation to the elements of the scene that, for me, get lost with the color version. Thanks so much for sharing. Great shot.

I definitely see what you mean. Thank you very much for the comment.

Thank you so much Ken. I agree with you also. These are the reasons I can't ever decide between color or B&W!

Cool shot. I prefer the B&W. I agree with the poster who said the greens 'control' the shot but I would still go with the B&W (the colour version is a little insipid for me, since I prefer HDR and would go crazy with that shot)

I do find that the twin doors tend to overpower a little - my eyes go back to them when there is so much more to see with the actual store. I blew this up on screen and scrolled across and found that personally I'd crop off the left hand door, which is rather boring, and retain the more interesting door with the graffiti and lock.

I really like this street scene, nicely captured. I prefer the B&W because is simplifies a rather complex image.
