The demand is much more robust for the 99II than expected and there will be delays and shortages.

Guess that means mine won't be shipping at the end of November.

Not necessarily, this is talking of delays in the Japanese market.

You will know if Sony raises the price to tamp down demand like they did with RX1rII...since this camera competes with $6000 Canikon, it has a lot of room to give profit wise.

I don't see it competing with 6000$ Canikon. I highly doubt the AF system to be as refined (12fps alone doesn't tell anything) and work as well in every lighting condition, build quality etc. is an other story. Wildlife lenses and sports lenses are missing, too. The 500/4 in Germany is 14000 Euros (Canon 8000Euros). Way overprized in my opinion.
That doesn't mean the camera won't perform at all. To the contrary. I think it to be a really good camera.

give sony two months lol. They'll release 10 lenses and 3 more bodies knowing them. Canon/nikon only release stuff every 3-4 years, with sony its almost quarterly. What ever we think we know now, won't mean anything in 2017

The a900-a99-a99II have pretty much followed the same release cycle as the 5DII, III, and IV, and I'm fairly certain that's where their meant to competitive. If the tracking's a little bit better than the 5DIV or D810, the 12fps could be very meaningful. The price of the superteles, particularly in the EU with the high import taxes, I think is more reflective of an expected low volume. At this point, I don't think they have the sports/wildlife base that would demand higher volume, lower priced supers. That's a tough group to break into, since Canon and Nikon have been catering to them for so long.

In my opinion a lot more people will buy a $3200 body even if only to use with a 70-200, 70-400 (which in crop mode is a 1dx with a 600) than $8-12k lenses from canon. Sony won't get the people with unlimited budgets, but they will get lots in the middle, who can buy an a99II and a 70-400, for less than a 1dx with arguably better performace

That's me to a T, buying the a99ii just because I have a 70-400Gii I've adapted to an A7rii....but I also have 1DXii and 500ISii and look forward to comparing them-not with the 500ISii-that wouldn't be fair but with an EOS 100-400ii.
For ease of use my money is on the a99ii=handing comfort/weight/EVF/peaking/etc.
For a true sports shooter (I am not) there cannot be a comparison though-real world tracking EVF refresh rate of the a99ii is 8fps correct? Not quite in the same rate league as 14fps.

They just did not realize that many will switch from R2 to 99II thanks to improved ergonomics and battery life.

You just might be right. I've even entertained the thoughts of switching from e-mount to wholly a-mount depending on how the 99ii does. Not about battery life though--the a7Rii and 6300 I use both not only charge but run from USB input, but about handling and just what I shoot--animals/birds.
What little landscape I shoot I'm sure the 99ii will handle.

Well yeah. If 99II would have been available when I purchased R2 I would have chosen 99II instead as I already had 16-35/2.8 CZ back then. No questions asked. I tried a demo 99 mk1 unit but did not like the idea of going with compressed RAW only and only 24MP output.

Somehow it feels that 99II was ready ages ago but they decided to roll R2 ball first to get maximum profits by abusing Sony users.

'by abusing Sony users' I wouldn't go that far. In fact if I felt that way toward Sony or Canon or Panasonic I'd leave them.

Perhaps little harsh word but that is almost what they are doing. A7x MKII could have had ergonomic and battery life improvements already but they did not. Now it seems they are milking the cash cow by bringing up fast shooting A9 with improved ergos and tiny A7R3 with huge resolution (and lacking ergos).

It will be funny to see how many will switch from 99II to A9 when it comes up.

I highly doubt that. The only people I hear complain about battery life are non Sony users and many R2 shooters love the smaller compact body...one of the reasons people switched to Sony.

can you please elaborate how you got abused by Sony? After all, you are totally free to use many other brands...yer you chose Sony to get abused. Time to stop your endless whining.

? Just have a look at this thread. People are willing to switch to 99II thanks to better handling with large telephoto lenses. Battery life...well...it fails or fails not depending on conditions where you use it. 99II battery model is of larger capacity, very simple.

And yes, I got abused by Sony - they cheated me with original A7 series. Promised specs which were not true (14bit *RAW*). Some modern examples are ones found in this very thread - system switch either due to specs or ergonomics or <insert some other reason here>. Sony's "innovation" drives people into upgrade game. Yet, modern lens selection remains incomplete both in FE and A-mount. In the end people purchase both systems to get some kind of complete kit.

For a while it seemed A-mount would die slowly. Now there is lack of direction again.
