How will it be ? Useful or not ? Or waste money ?

It'll be kind of tight for framing, considering it will have a FF equivalent focal length of almost 300mm (288mm).

I've used a 200/1.8L on a FF camera for portraits of couples, and I had to stand back about thirty feet. In order to get a portrait-mode image with about two feet of vertical subject coverage (i.e. head & shoulders) with the 180mm lens on an 80D, you'll have to stand about twenty feet away from the subject.

Of course, you don't have to use it for portraits.

On one hand, Zeiss is nice, but on the other hand (in my experience), for anything longer than 135mm focal length, I generally stick with Canon L-series lenses, although there are unique solutions from Alt brands.

That's not a bad price. The better the condition, the better the bargain.

Which version of the lens are you looking at ? They appear to have similar optical diagrams, but the MTF curves of the second version are much better than the first.

İs there huge difference between 15 blade model vs 6 blade one ( regarding the effect of #ofblades on the bokeh ) thanks

Are you comfortable manual focusing on Canon? The lack of peaking or a focusing screen made it pretty rough for me. You might consider Canon's 200mm f/2.8 if that's a concern.

If you use it wide open, should be circular on either, I think. If you stop it down, and it shows up, like on oof highlights, you might prefer the 15 blade.

I would say go with the 200/2.8 if that is a concern, then. KEH has one for $379 right now, but if you buy it today and use the code DIGFILM I *think* you will get 25% off, so that would make it like $290.

https://www.keh.com/shop/canon-200mm-f-2-8-l-usm-ef-mount-lens-72-703767.html

I have bought a couple "bargain" items from KEH and they have all been fine.

If you look into lens construction, Canon 135/2.0, 200/2.8 and 200/1.8 all shared the same design principle. It's just that 200/2.8 gives you more bang for the buck.

I wouldn't pay $300 for a v1, particularly not if I were using it with an OVF. You can pick up decent bargain copies for $150-$200, and the contrast is so low, you will have a hard time nailing focus without using live view. The vII is much better and easier to focus on an OVF, but not necessarily easy, and can be had for around $300. It does have beautiful bokeh wide open, and great subject isolation on a FF, but to get the same effect on an APS-C camera, your working distance will have to be so great, I'm not sure it'll give you a pleasant shooting experience.

Both the Sonnar 85/2.8 and the vII 135/2.8 have great bokeh, a decent amount of contrast, and would be easier to use on the 80D to get the same subject isolation you see with the 180/2.8 on a FF. The 85 trends a little over $300 and the 135 right around $300.

That top one looks like the vI, but what's up with the 65.5mm to the film plane? I don't remember having to add a 20mm tube to mount it on the 5D.

I think that's a poorly formed "4", not a "6", making it 45.5mm, which it should be.

Ever thought about Nikon's 180 ED AI-s? I think it's right on your budget.
