Mine should arrive today. I really hope I'll be able to honour the potential of this amazing lens!

It took a lot of tries, saving up, facing unexpected bills and health setbacks., but my brand new Tammy is heading towards me. I sold a lens and unneeded flash to Adorama and they made me a Don Corleone offer. I could not refuse for one minute. Thank you to the folks at Adorama.

Bought this lens to do astro photography and brought it with me to Norway. One moment (maybe 5 Minutes long, see below) and I can say that paying 1 grand for this lens was worth it..

Beginning of our journey, on board the Hurtigruten MS Nordnorge southbound during the first night of the trip, from Kirkenes to Svolvaer:

Feisol Tripod, VC on lens left on (for obvious reasons, on a ship)

And this one I took in Andenes. It was raining the entire day, so I covered the camera with the raincover from my retrospective 10.
The KP index was 2!!! so we didn't expect much, but we didn't want to miss anything, so we went out in the rain.

As soon as the clouds parted, I went at it and started taking pictures.

It began "casually", some green drapes forming in the sky. Nothing special, after a week of huntin Aurorae.

But, all of a sudden, this "hurricane" started forming and I found myself in a situation, where I had trouble breathing, a big fat knot in my throat and I literally couldn't believe my eyes. The lights moved so fast, even down to 2.5" I couldn't capture them without blurring.

Processed in Lightroom, but only small adjustments have been made. It was LITERALLY that intense. Once in a lifetime experience, I'm sure.

Besides, the aperture was accidentally set to f/3.2, I didn't notice until it was over. But in such a situation, you don't give a fuck about your camera settings, believe me.

nice pic. what's going on in the upper right corner? it looks like you cut the corner off.

@R.H.Johnson

It's the lighthouse that's obstructing the view up there.

I couldn't move ahead and there wasn't time to pack my stuff and set up next to the globe, so I simply included the lighthouse in the shots.

I guess I could photoshop it out of the picture, but cutting off all that awesomeness happening around it isn't an option.

Yeah, I guess I could.. Not very fond of such manipulations, though.

However, there's one more shot from that evening, one that didn't need any editing at all.

When I looked at it for the first time, I was certain that this could be my first ever picture worth sending in for a competition somewhere.

What do you think?

I fear I broke the shutter release on the D810 during this "storm", since the half-press often releases the shutter now.

nice, i like it.

as for the other after looking at it again. vertically crop the corner away. you won't miss much in that composition.
