Great shots....and it's a reminder that no matter how light I feel like I'm traveling with my A7R2 & a few lenses, I could still probably get by taking less.

I see a few images from the lagoon at Jökulsárlón but I miss images from the glacier beach there...

Beautiful images. Do you know what was the typical focal length that you used? I am heading there next week for a five day trip with my wife as more as a general holiday. I had planned to just bring the A7r11, Batis 25 & Batis 85mm lens and a A711 as a backup. I have a Sony 24-70 F4 but i had not planned to bring it.

I was there in June and I would definitely want something wider than 25mm IMO.

Some lovely work and a film-like quality to your processing. IMHO a little heavy handed with the vignetting on some shots though

With now having made 4 visits to that beach (from 2 trips) maybe it was either a case of awful weather (though it doesn't look it from his lagoon shots) or possibly just a lack of ice/icebergs on the beach (unlucky timing due to current/previous day's weather). That happened to me once.

I've done the one month around Iceland trip and I'm just back from a week there with my wife (as part of a Euro trip).
This time the Loxia 21mm was easily my most used lens (followed by Zeiss MP 100/2, for my wife and for landscapes !). I reached for the Voigt 15mm on just a few occasions though last time when touring by myself I think 15 (that time it was the Tamron 15-30) was my most used FL (followed closely by 20-22mm on the same lens).

With your wife you'll get a lot less time to setup and to go off the beaten track (I guess, my wife is patient but I do push the boundaries) ! Therefore a Batis 18mm or Loxia 21mm will cover 95% of your WA shots. Same goes for other countries that it sounds like you might be visiting (25mm not wide enough IMO), we also went to Italy, UK and Belgium and again the 21mm was most used for my style of shooting (YMMV).

Have a great trip, it's a superb country !
Kevin

TIP : We were unlucky with the weather at night, so no Aurora (the Blue Lagoon is still fun with the wife in heavy rain by the way) ! Except on the one night we went to bed early (I wanted to go back to the lagoon beach for pre-dawn), in bed at 22.30, checked again on a loo walk at 02.00 and still had 100% grey skies.
When I got to the beach I ended up chatting with an American (callout to Stan if you read this - lovely to meet you) who showed me his superb time-lapse and shots from the night before (on a Sony A6300) .... 00.00 - 01.00 the skies were clear for an hour and there was the most amazing full sky Aurora, a 10/10 AB flying everywhere, even though the forecast was for low activity. Kicking myself. So set the alarm and check the skies every 1-2 hrs !

Many thanks for sharing your experiences and the different lenses suggestions. I will not be able to source a wider Loxia or Batis in Ireland before I leave unless I can borrow one for someone in the local club. If not I will use the Batis 25. I am sure that I will be back in Iceland again, as the club is planning a trip next year. Thanks again.

Thank for sharing lovely pictures. I'll be there next week and now wondering if I should leave my 70-200 F4 at home and go just with G-master 24-70 and Voigtlander 15mm.
