p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Brant geese

The brant geese are returning in large numbers. I must have seen 2 or 3 thousand of them today at the East Pond of Jamaica Bay NWR. These are some of the first photos I took today.

Nice find Morris! I really like the symmetry in #2 and the poses and scenery of #3.

Great subject to enjoy!

Love your renderings of the Brant Geese Morris. We rarely see anything but greater and lesser Canadians.

Great images, Morris! I love the second when they banked and the last image when they landed.

I am not sure what image processing software you are using but a little bit of a dehaze slider (in Lightroom) won't hurt, IMHO, except for the first image as it is clear there. In other words, you could apply that effect to get the condition similar to that of the first image. I hope you don't mind me suggesting this, and I would not do this had you not put down your welcoming suggestion, of course.

Thank you Doug,
With them gassing canada geese here in NYC to keep them out of jet engines, the brant geese are in much larger numbers

The canada goose in 4 looks to be in shock

Thank you Joshua,
I use PS CS5 which dose not have dehaze. I'm thinking that bumping up the vibrance and/or saturation a touch might get the same look.

Morris, it's cool that you are seeing brants -- I've only seen them in Baja, kind of a long way from your stomping grounds.

I've gotta say, the fall colors included in the 3rd really give that one the 'migration feel' which adds value for me, Morris.

Thanks for posting.
