He Dave,

What super cool shots. #1 is my favorite by a wide margin. You couldn't have asked for more with the color in the clouds in it. #4 is my next favorite.

#2 is the real standout here. The composition captures the spatial context perfectly and the color of the water and how you can see the rocks on the bottom add tons of detail and interest. The subtle pink in the clouds rounds it out nicely. #1 has the great light and color but the lack of near ground and the vertically centered comp makes the scene feel too static for me. #4 is excellent as well. Nice work.

One hell of a set, thanks for sharing Dave. #2 is my favorite of the bunch, the river leads your eye through the frame nicely.

Thanks, Jim. Appreciate your comments. Yes, sweet after so many cloudless days...

Heron,
Thanks. Appreciate your perspective and critique. I tend to agree with you that the first is a bit static. Unfortunately I was unable to locate a suitable foreground without blocking the reflection and my lens was as wide as it would go (16mm)..

I love them all. You really captured the place and feeling. I think #1 is my pick of the bunch. Hard to choose. Great job.

Dave

I like the kearsarge pinnacles photo. Watch the bump in the reds as they show up as dots in the distant talus.

I also think the photo looking back toward Mount Gould could have the sky and down into the peaks cropped. I like the foreground and reflection and in my opinion the upper 1/3 detracts from this, the best part of the photo.

And I see Lake Reflection does what it does most of the time, not reflect!

Hi Dave,

Thanks for sharing. #1 is my favorite. Great use of composition and spacing as well as the exposure control level in the reflection. It is one of those color images where shape and texture matter very, very much, like it does in B&W.

These are beautiful shots. If I may if suggest a bit more contrast in the foreground and maybe touch of color bust in PS using color mode (not normal). This is what I'd do. And I'm saying this because on my iPhone they all look a little bit dull, so add some life to them
A correction. Your third shot is plenty contrasty

Just beautiful shots of a beautiful place. I've only had one trip into Kings Canyon backcountry, your pics make me want to go back.

I just commented on the other portrait version of that first one saying I wish there was more, and here it is. Nice work.
