Dear fellows,
what about the quality of lighting of the combo in the subject line?
TIA,

Riccardo

It is OK, sort of, but the signature doughnut will be in all of your photos. It gets old, fast. The MT24EX is much more flexible, but the heads need to be diffused. Have a look over at the neighbour Macro Forum

Thank you Eyvind.
I am aware that most of people who are using the MP-E 65/2.8 and posting in the Macro Forum, do actually use the MT24EX with diffusers.
I've found a Mint MR-14EX for 320 and I was tempted.
I would love seeing some pictures taken with either the EF-S 60/2.8 or the MP-E 65 and the MR-14 EX in order to see the quality of lighting (the doughnut signature should depend also on the reflecting behaviour of the subject).

If you can swing it, the twin flash model. I like the ring flash but for the MP-E's closer focusing distances, the twin flashes offer a ton more flexibility.
