Difference,if any, between quality of images from Olympus and Panasonic raw files?

Thinking of buying the g80 or m5ll.16mp sensors.

Is grain/noise more pleasing with one or the other?

I'll be using prime lenses if that matters.

Thanks
M

Ps. I like the swivel lcds. Some weatherproofing. Almost always shoot raw, but like to play occasionally with jpeg and effects.

Excellent question. How much better would the Panasonic need to be to offset the advantage of the Olympus's IBIS, I wonder... probably different for different people. (Heck, for all I know, maybe Panasonic has IBIS now too.)

The GX7 has a primitive form of IBIS (doesn't work in video mode and only a stop or two for stills).

Really all the recent 16MP sensors in both Olympus and Panasonic cameras are essentially identical in RAW.

The current Panasonic GX85 has excellent 5 Axis Stabilization, plus Dual IS when used with Panasonic lenses with built in stabilization.

It is absolutely fantastic for 4k video! It is amazing what you can do handheld that would have required an external stabilizer previously. One of the reasons I decided to sell my Panasonic G7 and keep the GX85 instead.

Panasonic model names drive me nuts though! GX85, G85, GX8...and then they vary by country. Come on Panasonic, give us meaningful names to distinguish between models & features.

For me, it depends on the make of sensor. Olympus and Panasonic use both Panasonic and Sony sensors. I prefer the Sony flavor, not so noticeable in Raw, but the Olympus secret JPEG sauce makes an Olympus body with a Sony sensor the best for me.
