p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · A6300 price on buy/sell

I was just looking at the buy/sell forum and the number of A6300's for sale is amazing. Pricing is all about the same, but it seems like nothing is selling. I was thinking of selling mine but I think the price may drop like a rock.

Personally I would not purchase one for more than $700. With so many hitting the B&S all at once...someone will have to blink on their asking price.

considering there is a guy on there with what seems like an unlimited supply of nib ones for 850 I would agree that 700 is sorta a good used price

I feel like any drop in price might just be in the short term. There is still a market for people that want an a6300 at $899 or $999 and don't want to spend the 400 extra for the a6500.

The same thing happened with the a6000 as well. It dipped down in price for a long while because there were talks of a new model coming out. After it came out, the a6000 was never that cheap again.

p.1 #5 · p.1 #5 · A6300 price on buy/sell

I remember watching a seller try to unload his A7 on the local CL as soon as the A7II was released. He always priced his camera a bit too high, and every time he dropped the price, the market value dropped even more. I watched his ad for like 2-3 months. I wrote to him early on that he was pricing it way too high. He responded curtly, not appreciating my feedback. If he'd been more realistic about the price to begin with he would have ended up selling it for a higher price than he eventually got for it 3 months later.

before a6500, there were at least two a6300 with kit lens that went for 850, making the price of camera around 750.
It is a law of supply and demand. the in body image stabilization, and as importantly touch screen focusing is well worth the upgrade/price difference for many. the a6300 is a great camera, and it has actually held its price extremely well. 700 for a used body of a 1K camera released 8 months ago, is quite good actually. Its just that the a6300 has managed to keep its price.

The old supply/demand curve will determine price in time I'm sure.

Also factor in that later this year I'm guessing we'll see some gray market & sale prices on the A6300 from online retailers who want to clear room for the A6500.

As for me....I'm not sure yet. Wife's A6000 still works fine, and if an eventual A9 or whatever it'll be called has a much improved buffer over the A7R2, maybe I'll just put those funds towards that and use it in crop mode when I want the "reach" and high FPS. Besides that, while I'm guessing the A6500 could replace my 7D2 for racetrack duty...I need more reach at times than the GM 70-300 allows, and for fast action I prefer to avoid adapted lenses.
