p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Stability With a Focusing Rail

Beginner question for macro shooting.

I just got an El Pro for my 100AME, so I'm trying some of my very first greater-than-1:2 macro work. I also bought a Really Right Stuff macro focusing rail.

I'm finding that at these distances, even with a sturdy tripod and a remote shutter release, just turning the focusing rail is enough to shift the composition enough to be a problem.

Is there some trick to doing this more gently? Does it sound like there's an issue with my rail? Is the RRS rail not a good one?
