Was this one shot at f/8?
I like the idea, comp.
There's such a range of light, I think you really need to make this a blend of at least two captures to make it work well.
The mountains just have noise, not much detail. A longer shot at lower iso would work better for the foreground.
There is a subtle green cast to the sky, but o/w it is quite nice.

the city was at f8 and sky at f2, both 13 seconds. It was tough to blend with the light pollution. The green cast was all over the place due to some aurora on the opposite side along with some charged particles.

I love that place. You did a very good job all things considered.

As David, I like the idea, but not the noise. Try playing with straight and inverse half-tone masks and brightness/contrast filter, that way you can tame the noisy glow above the city and improve contrast in the sky.

I don't think that the composition is strong enough for my taste. The mountains leaning out on left just lead the eye out of the picture. I think you need to move further east and go wider.

I tried a very similar shot of the same concept with the lodge and had the same struggles the light was just too bright for the lights vs the milky way at 1am vs your 3am. The exposures have to be so different to not blow out the lights.

Next time I am just going to go to Cameron lakes and avoid the challenge of lights.

But if you don't try it you will never know. Good try. Scott
