1. Otter pelts have some natural coloration differences, primarily caused by age of the animal.
2. Otter fur is not naturally water repellent (like seals, etc.). That's why the spend so much time grooming, to keep it clean and dense and help it work as an insulator. So, as it gets wet, very wet, soakingly wet, it will change how it absorbs and reflects light. This will change its color as well as its overall appearance. Also, being in shade or sun (and sun angle) will change how the fur looks from a color standpoint, especially if it is wet. Notice how sleek the coat looks on your first image as compared to several others. When your take your shower tonight, once your head is wet just run your and over it and "slick it down" with your hand (a single pass). Look in the mirror. Now get it wet again and actively shake your head and look again. Same type of effect.
