I just took a look and their site doesn't reflect the change, but that is fantastic.

they do state that as of the 16th of sept (and we are beyond that) all will be this way

ref: right under Logo & QD socket headline

if you own one of the older ones call them. they'll sell you the new one at 50% off on the condition you return the original.

note the 2 pictures. one with the open hole and the one with the lock clipped in attached to the strap? that is a QD assy.

Magpul is a manufacturer of shooting accessories. they make an excellent strap assy (in the $60 range) that RRS has chosen to adapt to their L brackets starting with the D5 and D500 and as of today the replacement foot they make for the 70-200.
QD- Quick Disconnect. it is a push button ball socket clamp setup.

The rumor is that Nikon will release a 70-200 F28 MKIII soon.

I kind of doubt that in any way. it will most likely be the standard as supplied foot that's in my lens box.

we will have to wait and see. my foot, previous to swapping out went through 2 generations of 70-200 and even the current one has a RRS reinforced attach plate

When did you order it? I just bought one less than a month ago and it's the old version.

I hope they implement this on all their brackets. The QR system is great on my other toys (different kind of shooting)!

This is a really smart system, I only wish the diameter was a little smaller so that it was easier to fit onto packed plates (there's not much that has to go onto the bottom of a foot replacement, but for a camera plate for a GX8 or something this is a challenge).

I mean, for example it seems they didn't add it this plate (http://www.reallyrightstuff.com/L84-Multi-use-fore-aft-plate) and that's the great example. Do you make that longer than it has to be? Will that be an advantage to some customers and a disadvantage to others?

this is pretty much brandy new stuff. first out of the gate was the 1Dx then the D5, D500. they have released an adapter clamp out already so it can work with just about anything reasonable to carry with the strap that does not have the ability at this point in time or outside their design system

QD Adapter Clamp

I have no doubt that they with do their best to integrate this port to as many products as they deem feasible. and then, of course, others have the option to follow.
