This is from White Pocket during the monsoon season this year. There was lots of rain before and while I was there, which was awesome for getting some cool reflection shots.

All comments are welcome.

Jim, that's a fine image that really defines the great southwest. Good for you that there was more water in the 'pockets' than when I was there.

Water, great reflection, and clouds... What more could you ask for?

Very nice Jim.

A person in the photo wearing a helmet light staring into nothing perhaps?

Yes! And just enough water to include entire peak! Great Jim!

Very nice, Jim. Strong comp and great light. Only suggestion is to sightly raise the exposure in the reflection. Not to become unnatural but just to brighten it a bit.

That's a very nice image Jim.
My only complaint is I wish it were bigger so I could explore the oodles of detail.

Very nice subtle light Jim. The reflection adds a lot of interest to the scene.
Best,
Fred

Great Jim, Yes, the reflection makes this photo stand out. I would try to add a little micro contrast to the clouds and some parts of the rock.

Thanks so much Jeffrey, I appreciate that. It was really great having the extra water. And I haven't even processed the photos from the next morning after it rained during the night and there were literally hundreds of water pool.

Glad you liked this Craig!

As to what else I could have asked for? I was hoping to see a unicorn, but sadly none showed up.

Glad you liked this Dave.

Actually the reflection has already been brightened about 1 stop. I tried brightening it more, and it started not looking real. But that could have just been that I was seeing it go from pretty dark to rather bright (2 stops), but now that it's been a little bit since I had processed this, I might just go back and raise the brightness of the reflection and see how it works.

I appreciate the suggestion,

Jim

Hey David,

Thanks for the compliment. As for the size, I will still stuck with our old standard of 800 pix wide. I might go up to 1200 one day, but for now I still prefer 800 pix wide for my web presentation.

When I visited in 2014, not a single drop of water was present in any of the puddles, but earlier this year (April) there were tons of puddles everywhere, and it looks like they lasted off and on for the whole summer!

I tried shooting this scene as well, but didn't do it justice I don't think. Beautiful timing with the clouds, Jim!
