It's so funny that I had a photo session with my dog, Venus, the day before yesterday and yesterday an old post I had posted here for the beautiful puppy Sky was revived by howardF.

Anyway it was long overdue to post some new studio shoots of my Venus here.

#1 - Venus putting up her begging eyes.

#2 - Venus is such a model, don't you think?

#3 - Venus is the Queen!

Hope you enjoy.

You might try getting her to smile more. Otherwise, great model and great images.

I really like the expression captured in the first Stefan! Nice set and good lookin' pup.Reminds me of my sister's childhood dog Sam.

Haha... I know, she gets so serious when I bring out the studio gear. One day I will get a smile.

These are marvelous. I simply love the way they capture the "heart" of your dog's expression. The pose, color, and detail are over the top.

Beautiful dog to be sure. I like the rich detail that shows in the eyes and fur. What lens and aperture were you using in this set up. I am asking because I noticed you were using some combination that gets you a pretty good depth of field.

I used my Nikon 50mm 1.8G lens for this set. The first one is taken at f/14 to get the nose also in focus, the other ones are taken at f/11 but my position is further back so it is enough to get her all in focus.

What a sweet puppy. I would love to give Venus a cookie and rub her ears. Amazing resolutions from 50mm f/1.8.

Haha... she would love to receive some good rubbing and of course cookies too. Yes, it is quite amazing what this little lens is capable of. It is even usable for tracking dogs in action, it is better than it's bigger brother 85mm 1.8G in that area. Biggest downside of this lens is its focus shift on widest apertures.
