The REAL bottom line here and we can all cheer about is Sony cams are getting a lot of attention with new lenses and from many sources. Really when I bought in with the A7r it was a real challenge to get glass. Now it's like on every corner their is a street vender to sell you glass. Love it folks it's what we really wanted all along.

They could very well make a 28/2 or 85/2.5 with a 52mm filter thread...15mm not so much unless it's very slow.

Reading some of the articles I am not sure if it is the Loxia. Maybe the Batis 35/1.8 or 135mm ?

Do you think they would use a Loxia lens on their teaser to release a Batis lens? I guess anything is possible.
I still think that a 85mm is a safe bet.

I'm hoping for an 85 (or 90). I really need a light one when I don't want to lug The Sumo around.

The OM 2.8/100 had a 49mm filter thread. The c/y 3.5/100 had 55, but could have been less I think.
So I think provided it's not fast you can get up to 100. My own preference is for slow and tiny - say 4/100 like a native replacement for ZM 4/85. For faster teles I prefer AF; a Loxia would be for backpackabikity and superb stopped down performance. Still other people's needs are different, and so are marketing needs..

I don't think it would be an 85mm, as there is already the Batis 85, GM 85 and GM 70-200/2.8 which covers this range.

That said you may have inside information

The reason I think it's a new Loxia lens is because they seem to have used the Loxia 21/2.8 on their Ad.

I just added the Loxia 21/2.8 next to the one they posted. I thought I knew this lens when I first saw the teaser!

From the halo on the teaser image i think it is the missing lens , a fisheye.

The Sony 28 has been growing on me and I think I much prefer that focal length to 35. A loxia 28 would be an interesting option.

This seems the most likely option although I would disappointed if it were a straight adaptation of the Contax G 90mm since you can get one for pretty cheap these days. It also was not a lens without flaws - bokeh seemed rough and corner sharpness did not hold up on the a7R II (sold my copy in anticipation of the Loxia telephoto). I would like to see a Loxia 100mm f2.5 or something to that effect but I think a 90mm f2.8 is the most realistic option if Zeiss wants to take the lazy route that they did with the 35mm and 50mm lenses.

Based on the Loxia case, we know that the last spot is about the same length as the Loxia 21 - slightly longer so the Contax G 90mm fits those constraints well. I'm skeptical about a 15mm Loxia since Voightlander (Cosina) makes the excellent 15mm f4.5 and it is a much chunkier lens than the Loxia 21.

I would be very surprised if the Loxia was a rehousing of a lens of that generation. The planar and biogon rehousings were much more recent. So I hope - and expect - that any short tele is a new design (except a 10% chance of a rehousing of the ZM 4/85 - but if they do that I'll get the original ZM for less and be able to use it on TAP)

Agreed, and I believe I remember after the loxia 21 was released seeing an interview or something where zeiss said they weren't going to do amy more rehousings and that the loxias from then on would be all new designs.

I have the Contax G 90 and the Batis 85. I do not see a difference between the 2 when shooting both at f/2.8. So, I wouldn't welcome a lens modeled on the Contax G 90 since I think we can already do better with the Batis 85 (maybe not better, but the same with extra speed).

So if Zeiss announces a 135mm Batis 1.8 or f2, would anyone here pre-order it? I've never pre-ordered anything camera related, but I think I would for a fast Batis 135.

So? My Minolta MD 85mm f/2 and Pentax 77mm f/1.8 Limited both have a 49mm filter thread, and my Contax G 90mm f/2.8 takes a 46mm filter. No reason they can't do this in 52mm.
