Lens looks like a true gem, especially for the $$.

Only a few sample test shots so far, but really liking the output.

Stopped down to f3.2 yesterday to ensure I got both kids in focus during a snow storm. MF can be so irritating when in conditions like this but soooo satisfying when you nail it(and to be fair I think I still missed it a little).

I replaced the lousy oem cap today with this one from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R8N8R8Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Anyone with this lens should order this and replace it now. It's near impossible to remove the oem lens cap with the hood on. The hood is deep and the stock cap has a shallow pinch area and is too smooth to get a good grip. I would always remove the cap before putting the hood on, usually from the outside edge as the pinch area just stinks. Those times that I forgot and put the hood on first I'd have to pinch it loose then shake it out the hood. What a pain. I should have ordered this sooner, it's so much better.

edit, not quite as good as an oem nikon 77mm pinch cap but it's close. I just realized thats the size on my 80-200 and tested them back to back. The nikon is just a tad bit better, deeper pinch area but they are $17 versus $7 so it's your call.

Sharpness is superb, oof blur (bokeh) a mixed bag, depending on backlight intensity.
Colour rendition is a bit too much shifted for my taste.
An interesting lens overall though.

A bit of a PSA for anyone on the fence for trying one, B&H and Adorama (perhaps others) have the Rokinon on sale for $399 at the moment.

Think I might pick one up in Nikon mount to pull double duty on my A7 and my wife's D7000.

Rok 135 @ f/8, D3X, studio light:

I don't need the f/2 for tabletop, but this lens offers close focus and low linear distortion. With so many speculars from jewelry, total suppression of lateral color is a key attraction.

Fresh competitors are crowding this FL: (rehoused) CZ Milvus 135/2, CZ Batis 135/2.8, Sigma 135/1.8 Art. Got to get back to the Rok 135, but have been distracted by my new Sony 100 STF. The STF trails the Rok for linearity, is slightly behind regarding defocus CA, equal for CA correction and sharpness, and wins easily for bokeh. The distraction is justified, I feel.

I'm still really happy with mine but giving consideration to selling to fund the sigma 135.

here is one @ f2.8 from a couple weeks ago

When I compared my SY 135 and the Sigma, there was only a small difference wide open, which I attributed to the difference in apertures.

I opted for the Sigma for the AF, otherwise I think you'd be hard pressed to see a significant difference when using both lenses wide open, or near wide open.

My SY copy is very sharp and I am pretty consistent at nailing focus but like you I'm just interested in the ease/speed of AF.

I like my Walimex branded Samyang 135mm. It is sharph, good color aberration correction.
But from my Samyang 14mm experiences, and the half cutted lenses Samyang lenses at the Photokina, I have doubts about its mechanical quality.

Furthermore I like at the moment more to use my big FD tele lenses with speedbooster to get even more blur.

Here two images made with the 135mm/2 full open, Sony A7II

I tried to live without AF for portraits but failed, so now use the Nikkor 70-200/4 and Sony 100/2.8 STF in that role: formidable optics both. However, when time allows manual focus, the Rok 135 remains peerless for its optical performance and it delivers so effortlessly and without lens corrections post-capture. It's the lens that Samyang should not have been able to design. Shot @ f/16 for DOF, here's an example where lateral color is not an option:

Sony could just about license the optical design, improve the build/construction quality, add AF and IBIS, call it their GM, and people would rave about it.

Absolutely, as long they didn't reduce performance with AF and OSS, both of which complicate the mechanics. There's a certain charm to Samyang's plastic construction, especially as it translates to the price. The considerable weight of this lens is all glass—wow!

This lens must be one of the greatest bargains ever. Here's one taken with the Panasonic G85 at f/2.8, heavily cropped:
