I did not fully utilized the 50-140 since I bought it. I mainly use all the primes till recently after I heard many good words about this zoom. Here is a shot on Saturday. I have to admit that it is so sharp and the IS worked great.

Seemed like we needed a landscape shot with this lens. (cross-posted in the main Fuji images thread)

Wow, beautiful shot. Another great addition the the images of this wonderful lens. Where is this place and when did you shoot this? Nice use of the telephoto for the landscape.

A shot this morning while out on a walk. Weather was a little cloudy and dreary but the ducks didn't seem to mind.

Nice, was this using AF-C?

Some great images in this thread. I remember reading when the 50-140 came out that a lot of people weren't pleased with the rendering, but from what I"ve been seeing it looks pretty darn good.

I was debating the 50-140 or the 90/2 and went for the 90mm. Great lens but at times I did miss IS, as its a fairly long focal length for some handheld shooting. The 90mm isn't exactly small and light either....

I was going to pick up a 55-200 this weekend since it seems a great lens for a pretty modest price (around $450 or less used) but its not too much smaller/lighter than the 40-150, and seems the same length extended. Little more reach, but I could always get a TC for the 50-140.

Images in this thread are really moving me to think maybe I should go for the 50-140 instead, I've seen them used for as little at $1100 so not a bad price, especially if I return the 90/2.

Does anyone with the 50-140 still own/use the 55-200 or 90/2 or did you find your just always grabbing the 50-140 ?

I can't really justify all three as there are a few other lens I also want/"need" like the 10-24 so I'm trying to balance unlimited desire for all the X glass with keeping the cost of moving into this Fuji system as reasonable as I can

I have the 90 - absolutely awesome! But very limiting by its focal length - if had to do over (or could return it) I would go for 50-140 - almost as good, more versatile, IS, and couples with 1.4/2 converters. Images out of it are top notch - a friend has it - lovely!!

Thanks. Yes, af-c using single point with the af custom setting for erratic subjects. I'm having pretty good success rate with this setting.

I also have the 90 and 50-140. I hardly use the 90 and I'm thinking of moving it on. There's no doubt it's spectacular but the 50-140 is also great and is just so damn versatile.

What I have found is that when I need the speed or shallow DOF I almost always reach for the 56mm anyway.

The photos are good, albeit a little too large. My comment is really about the text that is so long that I have to scroll to the right quite a bit or reduce the size where I almost can't read it.
( It's heck getting old! )

The lens really is impressive on most of these images.

I also have both. The 50-140/2.8 OIS is a superb lens and you legitimately get 5 stop of stabilization. This in itself is worthy of having the lens. The 90/2 is also a superb lens, but with an effective FL of 135mm the application is a lot more limited. I feel the 90/2 has a similar rendering to the Leica M 90 Cron.

Tough choices

I had the 55-200 for a long time, from all the way back when I got my XE1. It is a pretty decent lens, though it can struggle a bit with AF in low contrast situations at the long end. It is light and small and sharp.

However, mine broke. I had a problem with the zoom mechanism, and Fujifilm attempted a repair, but it never was what it should be after that. I picked up the 55-140 for several purposes — to augment my primes for some travel, for some event photography. It is a great lens.

The versatility of the lens is ultimately what sold me. I mostly shoot my kids activities which include dance and gymnastics. However, the OIS on the lens has really been a complete surprise to me. I heard the OIS was pretty good but man, I've been able to hand hold some really slow shutter speeds to my surprise. I did play around with the 90/2 at a local shop and really liked it too, the manual focus ring felt a fair amount better than the 50-140 but I'm completely happy with my purchase.

Here's a few pictures of my family today that (imo) show how well the OIS can work. These are not super slow speeds but all of these shots were in the shade with slower shutter speeds than I'd like. I'm not a professional and we go out once or twice a year just to take some family pictures for our christmas cards. With that being said, I have yet to invest much into a Fuji flash system which could have really come in handy with some fill flash today.

Dan - Great family pictures - you are much better than you let on - all 3 are great but the last is "stunning" - almost 3D in appearance! Congrats!

rsk7 - Wonderful shot of Picture Lake. Great. You have forced me to go looking for it.

Dan - Excellent family pictures. Like you I am wondering which flash might work well with my Fuji system.
