Interesting shot, where are the rays? Must have been pretty foggy or hazy to shoot that directly into the sun without flare.
I would darken the entire sky and brighten the foreground. Maybe 1/2 stop each.
I would say that it would have been haze. Thanks for your insight, Ben!

I like alot what Shasoc did. By brightening the foreground it created greater interest areas and more involvement in me exploring the image.
What a bunch of great images you've brought back from your trip.

Noted, Steve! I appreciate your feedback and glad that you've been liking them.

Like the color rework
Had to play with a monotone. Not sure it improves, but what the heck.
Different crop.
I assume the banding around the sun is absent in the large file?
Scott
Monotone?!?! You crazy bastard! You know I'm always up for at least taking a look in mono. I believe the banding is played up in the very-much downsized JPG.
Thanks for your thoughts on the pic, Scott!

I've never seen this "egg effect" this harsh before. But then again, I've never used my 100-400II for landscapes before. Does the sooc raw file look like this or did this occur during processing?
I really like Socrate's direction he went with the rays. That really plays up on the heat of the savanna and helps offset the "eggy effect" IMO. Not sure about the crop suggestion though.
I like the aspect ratio you chose and also the amount of FG exposure you used.
Dave
SOOC won't be as bad since I dropped highlights a lot to get more detail.
Thanks for your feedback, Dave! I think I'm going to take a little from everyone for the rework.
