Well, thatīs not a comparison of the D500 and D750, but a comparison how well Lightroom handles the RAW files.

If you really want to judge the sensor, the comparison should be with "in camera JPGs" or RAW files developed with Nikon software...

For me that's fine. I use LR to process my wedding files. I may some day go back to C1 but there is no way that I am going to try to edit an entire wedding in the Nikon software. So for me and many other wedding shooters this is a relevant comparison.

If JPG, then wouldn't that just be a comparison of in camera JPG processing as well? LR is such a common post processing program, seems perfectly sensible to use it as a comparison.

Good comparison. There are definite areas where the D750 out performs, but not many. It is good to see the progress made by 2 years of sensor tech & other innovations.

It is just the viewfinder from the D8X0 cameras, right?

Yeah, those are garbage. Just like the one on my D600 & D7100. Gaff tape is the only solution I think

Wait.. The d500 got the circle eye piece and the d750 got the shitty consumer eye piece. The eyepiece on my second d750 fell off just pulling the goddamned thing out of the box the first time.

Put one of these,or similar on it and they will stay put. They are not permeant so no harm is done to the camera: https://www.amazon.com/Glue-Dots-33709-FC-Mini-Sheets/dp/B006TCLQ9M/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1472253396&sr=8-5&keywords=glue+dots

Interesting. Actual noise isn't that different but the tonality is much better on the D750 until 6400. The contrast of the files is quite different though which may skew things.

In many ways, it is what you might expect. I have a D7100 that I've shot along side many cameras, so I am pretty familiar with the look of the files and personally would seldom push beyond ISO 1600. The D500 are definitely crunchier looking files.

For my use anyway, it would probably be more interesting to see a comparison of low light AF accuracy..but that is much harder to test in any quantifiable way.

I just used a D500 at my last wedding alongside a D750 and though there was much to love about the D500 I won't be trading my D750 for it.

I found focus was fast, but not necessarily more accurate than the D750.

The noise was really obvious with ISO 1600 and above.

The camera is a joy to use however. So responsive with many upgrades to the D750 but for all that the IQ is not even close.

Hopefully Nikon will get it together to release a new D750 with the pro features of the D500 and the additional buffer.
