Of the 3 versions you posted, I like the first/original version best - as it's visually appealing to me. "Natural" does not work for me 90% of the time in landscape photos like this one because of the high contrast with very deep shadows, flat or lackluster color, etc, etc. I am of the opinion that one should edit/massage an image to make it look the way you want it to look. Photography is an art form, so you can be as creative as you want. You are no different to any painter/artist. Make your photos look as good as they can would be my approach.

Nice! Good to see an image that's not over-processed.

I love the 1st and 2nd versions both for different reasons. I agree the 1st might print better. The 3rd didn't help at all.
Beautiful!!

This shot has so many things going for it. It is one you can study for more than a few seconds and as you look you find more things of interest and beauty.
Very nice!

Composition couldn't be nicer. Really nice flow of subjects here.
I feel like the colors could be a little off in the foreground. Might try a few versions of this and see what looks best.

I just saw the second page of this thread. I like the 2nd shot (first edit) that is slightly darker. The third shot is too light IMO. Good job.

Lovely composition there, my personal preference is for the 2nd version, which has a nice earthiness to it, vs. the more glowing 1st and 3rd. I think the biggest selling point of the 2nd is the mountains look much better brown than blue. Definitely a keeper.

Thanks Bobby - That's the beauty of not shooting for someone else! At the end of the day I will print what my mind's eye wants to portray.

Thanks - and that seems to be a delicate balance these days!

Thanks Greg. I guess good pictures go in two general directions - a single subject that pops into your face or a picture that is more complex that you can daydream into to. I was hoping for the latter in this pic. Glad you liked it.

Absolutely! The best part of photography is being able to create images the way you want to see them. And the more technically trained and qualified you become, the better you become at breaking the rules and making exceptional photos. And I can see that you're on the right path, Dave!

Wow Dave, this is sweet. The awesome colors of the foreground with that grate looking glacier in the back. If I had to nitpick anything at all, it appears there a gradient where you blended on the left side where the foreground meets the background rocks. Overall great work.
