Headed to Nashville for an extended vacation. What is there to photograph, besides the obvious music scene. I am primarily a landscape / wildlife photographer, but am open to suggestions. Thank you

If you're open to driving some there are a number of waterfalls within a couple of hours of Nashville - Burgess Falls, Cummins Falls, Cane Creek Falls, Fall Creek Falls, Machine Falls. And if you want to drive a little more then you have the Great Smoky Mountains National Park about 3 hours away.

A couple of more options:

1.) The Land Between the Lakes might very well be on your route from Missouri, and probably doable as a daytrip from Nashville as well. It would probably be your best "wildlife" option.

2.) There are a number of state parks south of Nashville on the Cumberland Plateau--Savage Gulf, Fiery Gizzard, etc. that are well worth checking out...waterfalls, "rock houses," and you might even find a bit of fall color after our dry summer. If you're driving around the Monteagle area, be sure to take a jog over to Sewanee as well--the University of the South is as bucolic as it gets.

3. An off-beat option might be the Cedars of Lebanon State Park, which is just a few miles from Nashville--I doubt you'll find any "hero" shots there, but it's a unique environment to explore. Finally, depending on where you're staying in Nashville, it might be worth getting up early and just driving some of the "blue highways" back toward Franklin along the Harpeth River...some nice, prosperous country back in there.

Otherwise have a safe trip--I know East Tennessee a little better, so if you're interested in the GSMNP or other points closer to Knoxville, definitely give me a shout.

Cheekwood Gardens is nice, but not the best time of year as flowers are past their peak. As others note, waterfalls all over middle TN, and running very full this year with all the rain.

Thank you. Travel is not a problem so waterfalls are a definite maybe.
