Took a few quick shots during recent road trip up the Mendocino coast. The timing and lighting condition weren't ideal, but I was anxious to test out my newly acquired lightweight Fuji kit. These were taken with a 10 stop ND filter.

C&C are welcome and encouraged.

Nice composition shot of the Pt Arena lighthouse. But the apparently slow shutter speed rendered the ocean waves somewhat like wispy clouds.

Thanks! I love the geology shots in your Smugmug account. They make me want to get out there and explore

#1 is awesome. I love the texture on the rocks.

I agree with Dave, This is nice, but using a faster shutter speed and actually showing the waves crashing and the water movement would have added a great element to these. With the water just looking like milk, it doesn't add anything to the photos.

Well Jim, you'd know better than me, but I really like the feel of number two!

Ill throw in a yes vote on the 10stop nd effect

certainly easy enough to have been like every other picture taken there.. I dont even have such a filter.

I like #2 the most here. I think for long exposures this isn't the right light. LE, for me, often happens to enhance a scene with great light. Here it has made the water somewhat in between dramatic and surreal. That being said it is a very nice photo and might work with a BW conversion.

These are gorgeous, love the compositions, the SS is a matter of personal preference, and it is really up to you, to tell us, what you felt, what bothers me more, is kinda, too bright rocks, which i would prefer little darker.

Cool set, love the surreal sun blasted feel to these. The long exposure works for me, it adds to the otherworldly feel, both in the water and in the quality of the light and colors imparted by the ND filter.
