But thatīs the same in fashion photography. You rarely get a "card blanche", most times the client/agency will tell you even beforehand, what they want. And deviating from this given path is probably a wy to get never booked again, even though you image might be groundbreaking creative.
This is true. With fashion though, the split between paid and personal work is even more skewed, fashion guys spend the majority of their time on tests and editorials that pay them nothing all done to get their name and style out in the right places. This is to get paying work (ads/commercial/whatever) work as close to the stuff they like to produce as possible but it is generally well accepted that it ends up being a compromise to get paid just like weddings are.
