Hi All,

I'll be flying out to south western Wyoming in about 10 days and wanted to see if anyone has any good spots to take photos. The Tetons will be the closest thing to me. I'm wanting to go up into Yellowstone for a day but not sure if that will happen. What is your favorite spots to shoot? Any input would be appreciated. Pictures are always welcomed too!

Unfortunately there is not enough information posted for meaningful feedback. For instance, where in Western Wyoming do you intend to arrive at? West Yellowstone (no air service)? Jackson? How do you travel once there? Rental car? How many days do you intend to stay?

Unless you have a specific reason to fly into south western Wyoming (business or otherwise) I would recommend flying to Jackson which is right by the Grand Teton National park. And one day in Yellowstone is absolutely insufficient. It's a huge park.

Agree with ^^^

Please define "Western Wyo."
How many free days do you actually have?
Allocating only one day for Jellystone will make for a lot of driving and damn little actual camera time.

Sorry for the late reply, I had a very busy weekend.

fsphoto, Thank you so much! This is a great help. It is what I was looking for. It has different view points of the area.

dalite, Thanks. I'll go look for the other post. Sorry for the duplication.

I am going to WY for my wifes family reunion. I am not sure on how many days i'll be able to get away. It is sad but I may only get a day to go to Yellowstone. Sad, I am. I'll be in the Star Valley area which is south of Jackson an hour or so. I plan on driving up to the Teton area once or twice at night for some astro shots and sunrise shots.

Afton has a nice hike to the Periodic Spring in Swift Creek canyon. It's about a 30 minute drive up the dirt road, and another 30 minutes to stroll to the spring. The landscape isn't unique or fantastically pretty, but is plenty photogenic. The spring makes a nice cascade down the side canyon. Follow 2nd Ave east...

The mountain pass on 89 just south of Smoot is lovely. There are meadows, beaver dams, and pretty rolling mountains to shoot.

Other worthy drives in the area:
89 between Logan and Bear Lake; a lovely mountain pass.
Strawberry Creek Rd, east of Bedford is _very_ nice.
Snake River Gorge east of Alpine (~30 miles from Afton.)
Explore Smith's Fork Road (exit 7 miles s. of Smoot) to the east. You'll go from forested streams to high alpine meadows in about 10 miles.

Thanks Greg! My wife's grandpa just told me about that spring. I might head up there in the next day or two.
