Dj R - no offense meant or taken. I completely forgot that Adobe still has not delivered a raw converting option for the D850 - other than dng.
I am very open minded. I am not a wedding photographer, but a retired marketing VP with a top Fortune 10 company, who has almost 50 years in marketing, advertising, graphic design, etc. But, I am not a wedding photographer. I am an Adobe beta tester and have the latest runs of Bridge and Lightroom, but they, for some reason, do not have the D850 support.
Since my background with Adobe goes back to the origins of Photoshop I am sold on the raw format and would never dream of shooting jpeg, except with an iPhone. Editing does not take THAT much time!
I used to have a D810 along with a D4s. Then the 105 1.4e came along, and, after that, the 28 1.4e. I had waited a long time for these two. Unfortunately, I was never satisfied with the 105 1.4e on the D810 - too many out of focus or soft shots, which I blame on camera movement and the high resolution sensor. (I don't have the seemingly prerequisite urge to shoot everything wide open with this lens, which would have made things worse.)
So I sold the D810 and the D4s and bought a D5, even with the "diminished dynamic range." I am very happy with the results - a bit more megapixels, a better camera, and more shots in focus. I have noted many of the 105 1.4e shots here, and elsewhere, seem to me to be slightly soft or out of focus in the center, but I am very critical of this. Fortunately, this lens has such beautiful transition between the two that even soft images look amazing.
Anyway, whatever works for you, right? I was just curious about using this camera and lens with jpegs, and forgot about the lack of support. Here is a 105 1.5e shot from the D5, not a professional wedding photographer, and not my child - a perfect stranger, but the light was good.
