p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Fotodiox Contax C/Y adapter for Sony A7ii - A question

Hi,

Does anyone own or use the Fotodiox adapter for
Contax C/Y lenses to Sony A7 cameras? I was
wondering how stiff are the lenses once they are
attached to the adapter. I mean, are they easy to
dettach once one may want change lenses?

For example, I use the Fotasy adapter for Leica-mount
lenses. The lenses don't come off so easily with
this adapter.

Thank you, kind regards,

igmolinav : ) !!!

Works well for me. There is some tightness, but never a struggle. Used them for Minolta SR, Contax CY, Konica AR, and Canon FD.

Hi,

Thank you for your message : ) !!!

Is there an advantage in having one
separate adapter for each of the C/Y
lenses you may have?

Kind regards,

igmolinav : ) !!!

Not really. It is bad enough having for of them for different mounts. It adds a bit of weight to the bag as well.

I successfully used Fotodiox adapters on Pentax, Olympus, Minolta,
and Konica lenses. The standard Fotodiox worked fine on the A7 II,
but was too tight when used with Konica lenses on the A7 II. The
Pro model Fotodiox, however, did work fine on the A7 II. Also
used the standard Fotodiox adapter on micro 4/3 bodies without problems.

Hi,

When you say:

" The standard Fotodiox worked fine on the A7 II,
.... The Pro model Fotodiox, however, did work
fine on the A7 II. "

You mean, you were able to change c/y lenses
without any major trouble.

Is it possible to remove and put back on the
adapter's collar in the 'Pro' version?

Does the 'Pro' version really feels and looks
sturdier and much better than the other version?

Kind regards,

igmolinav : ) !!!

Yes, I was easily able to change Konica lenses on the A7 II
with the Fotodox Pro adapter. With the standard AR-NEX
Fotodiox adapter, the resistance to turning the lens was
too great in my opinion, and I was afraid to twist hard to get it on.

Looking at the adapter, I see that the collar is screwed on.
I have no idea whether it would fit the standard adapter.
I thought it was a decent price at $59.95USD, and I did not
have risk damaging my lenses.

Looking at both standard and Pro models, to ME, the quality of construction
of the adapter body appears similar. The main difference to my eye is the
collar. The standard collar is anodized, while the Pro model collar is highly
polished. I do not have the standard AR-NEX any more but compared the Pro
to a standard PK(A)-Nex which should be the same.

Fotodiox has more info on the Pro model here:

Good luck!
