Owners of this lens, please stand up and raise your hand.
Please post images!

It is probably better than the Nikon 105, yet it costs about half the cost of the Nikon 105.
Sharpness/IQ is excellent. I believe this is sharper than the Nikon.
Build quality is top notch.

I have yet to upgrade my status to be able to post images, and our Tokina 100/2.8 AT-X Macro is Canon-mount, anyway, so off-topic in this section, but I really do like our sample of this lens. Before she became a dedicated Nikon shooter, my wife tried a bag of pre-owned Canon gear she bought from a colleague. This bag of gear included the Tokina 100/2.8 AT-X Macro; this gear became the core of my starter kit, which is why I shoot with both Canon and Nikon today. This Tokina Macro is probably, largely, what prompted me to become a serious SLR photographer, and a reason I prioritize lenses over cameras.

In June, B&H finally got this lens in stock after being on back-order. Really like this lens on my D750.

I got rid of my Canon version (after a lengthy warranty repair) of that lens because it has a fatal design flaw (for that mount, can't comment on the Nikon side as there the aperture control could well be all mechanical).

The flat wire cable on the Canon mount version of that lens is under tension when you are close to 1:1 magnification and does move in the guides that are keeping that cable from extending into the barrel of the lens when focusing to infinity. As a result the solder points deep inside the lens are prone to wear out in time (depending on how often you focus to 1:1 magnification) rendering the lens an economic write off if that happens outside the manufacturer warranty period.

Another drawback is the lack of a tripod mount ring, something every macro lens I will ever buy again needs to have, whatever the focal length (it's more about the freedom to correct small tripod tilts than anything for me)...

Let's revive this thread with images taken with the Tokina 100mm.
