at ISO 3200. Was shooting the Merlin in flight, and did not have time to drop shutter speed and lower ISO.

Not at all a sharp result, but captures the show-down stare between Merlin and Kingfisher.

Full-frame was 8688x5792 pixels and cropped down to 1617x1078 pixels.

Selective NR applied to crop.

OK Imagemaster I know you have the gift/eye for photography but I still am just amazed at the cropability of this sensor. The Merlin and Kingfisher may not be as sharp as your used to but the story captured is 10 star. For me, that sharpness is just fine.

Having my 1Dx now for a month and really starting to print on my Pro-10 printer, images like this make me wish I had room in the budget for a nicer high MP landscape camera. The 1D is sharp and easily printable in larger sizes, but the resolution of the 5Ds looks incredible.

5Dsr arrived today...time only to get it de-boxed and my basic settings. Many reviews online so nothing I would add but the density of this body is noticeable in a big big way-it is just stout.
After setting up cases/AF/BBF/etc. I noticed the lack of dancing red boxes I love on the 1DXii and the Ring of Fire on the 1Div. Besides lack of time it was pouring buckets.
I hope to image something with it tomorrow.

My contribution....

5DSr, 600mm II, 1/3200, f/5.6 ISO 500, -2/3EV, Aperture Priority, LR w/my own profile, no slider mods.

Except for the slow shutter speed, the 5DSr is great for birding as cropping is like adding big MMs to your lens. BTW, according to my tests with Focal, my 600 II is sharpest at f.5.6.

Hmmm... I think I see Mr Moire in there.........

Peace

Cropping 5DSR files was a fun past time. My 5DSR is no more but I still have 1000s of files to play with anytime!!

Wow! How you get that detail with a teleconverter ..... just amazing to me. But then I am of the 1.4X II world. I have not purchased the gen III 1.4 ....... yet.. to go with my still very new 600mm II.

I should swear off these boards as they just cost me money.

Great shot.

Peace

There is basically no sharpness or clarity or contrast loss with the 1.4TC on the 600II. Even with the 2xTCIII I can get razor sharp shots with good technique (usually with some support but sometimes handheld).

If I couldn't use the 600 with both TCs I'd never have bought it....

Here are a couple 1200mm. with the eagles in nest are from tripod and the bluebird from monopod, the flying eagle is handheld...
