I'm curious how often people see delamination of lens groups.
I sent a 200mm F4 AFD micro lens for cleaning as it had early stage fungus. They reported that it had a delaminated element. Unfortunately I only examined the exterior prior to sending it, the last inspection of the insides being many months earlier, so the delamination must have occurred then. I ruled out the courier and servicing companies doing it because a) I did not examine the optics prior to sending so I have no proof, b) the repairer is a very reputable company I've used before c) there was no sign of impact damage and d) the lens was cushioned in loads of protective stuff on the out and in journeys. And I am not convinced that impact damage would cause such a fault, so perhaps moisture ingress caused the cement to fail. Sadly Nikon no longer sell replacement lens groups and Nikon Rumors reported the lens being discontinued.
I also have an old 60mm AFD F2.8 micro lens which has delamination of the rear lens group. It is usable when stopped down.
