Sharing a few images from a quick trip into the Sierra backcountry. C&C appreciated.

I like em all, subtle processing. Did you do some exposure blending - I don't see the line of a GND (which I don't care for). The first is my favorite - the rocks in the water pointing to the mountains makes for a very dramatic composition and the exposure is spot on. I also quite like the last for the quiet smooth blend of tones. Also nice that there are no people in them - did you have these spots to yourself?

Hey Dave,

Nice work on all 4 of these. A nice varied set. I am having a hard time picking favorites, that first one is really cool with the rim of light on the diamond. I am trying to pick a favorite but can't. All of these are just so good. You have spot on compositions and the subtle light in them is just so nicely processed.

Good work,

Jim

PS. Voted!

Jim,
Thanks for the comments. Single exposure with soft 2.5 stop GND. Three days and I had these lakes entirely to myself.

Nice work Dave. Didn't get the Range of Light wow factor. Too many people think gory red sunsets happen every night in the high country.

Your photos remind me that every season presents different things to look at and for.

Thanks

This is an area I'd love to explore! Love all of these, the light in #1 is fantastic.

Dave,
I would have to agree with both Jims. These are all excellent images.

BTW, what is a "quick" trip to the back country?
If it's just a couple hour hike, these opportunities are well worth it.

Thanks for posting

Dan

Nice set of images Dave, #1 and #2 really stand out to me. Looks like you need to clean up a few dust bunnies in #1

Thanks for taking time to comment, Claude. Yeah, lots of cloudless days but never a bad day in the high country.

Dan,
3 of these were taken about 7 miles in from the trailhead going out of South Lake. 5~6 hour slog, depending on your fitness level and how many pounds you're lugging.

I have done my share of high sierra backpacking and I really like these photographs for how realistically they convey the natural scene. Masterful processing -- really takes me to a time and place.

Very nice images. No C&C, just commenting because I recognized the image as Sierra light just from a thumbnail on the homepage. Have spent my life exploring them, and can't wait until the next time I am in the high country. Happy travels!

Yes Dusy. Just the other/south side of Bishop Pass. Palisades are obvious in photos. Picture two with peak with thin snow ribbon is Mount Giraud.

I like nr 2 most. The soft water of a creek is calming. Ilkka

I don't think I'll go swimming in these lakes but the views on all of these are beautiful. 1 thru 3 are very nicely composed.
