You are doing something that I have never been fearless enough to do. #42, 45, setting your light stand on the edge of the dance floor. I'm always trying to keep mine in a corner, behind the DJ or band. Somewhere where I think it will not trip someone or be knocked over by staggering guests. It seems like I'm always trying to get it behind everyone and everything. Ever have any problems with the stand being so up front like this?
Not really. We use those huge backdrop stands so they are fairly wide at the bottom and are quite large to begin with so people normally see them when they are in the way.
Also with the cheap ass Godox flashes or whatever they are if one takes the big fall I am not as worried as if I had a really expensive speedlight. Generally I just tell people to watch out and they steer clear. I move them around quite a bit to depending on who is where for what (toasts, first dances, cake, etc.).
