I reworked this image from the archives a few days ago from Emerald Lake, BC.

Feedback and comments are always appreciated. Have a great week! - Matthew

Hey Matthew,

I like this. The B&W fits this so well.

This is nice. It has a very iconic feel to it. Well done, if that's what you were going for

This is a great photograph!

I love how the cloud forms a line from the right side middle of the frame to the top of the frame after going behind the mountain.

Could you provide some insight on the rework? How did it look before and what made you arrive at this edit? Some insight would be greatly appreciated!

Very nice classic B&W. I love how the clouds curl around the peak then open up over the valley. Two things I notice:

1. The bright area to right and left of summit appear blown out to me.
2. It struck me odd that the valley snow is brighter than most of the snow on the peak. Sure it can happen, it just struck me as odd.

Beautiful image

I can post up the original if you wish once I'm home tonight.

Processing was largely done in silver efex. When I do mountain portraits like this, I have an idea in mind of chiseled, very defined mountain features with dreamy, almost flowing clouds and dramatic sky. The reality is I got very lucky to be at the right place and the right time as the clouds and light were changing incredibly quickly as the storm moved in.

Specifics regarding edits, I brush a lot of structure in on the mountain and try to extract as many tones out of the sky as I can by playing a bit with exposure level brushing that don't change the overall original too wildly (I'm not sure if I'm explaining that properly).

Thanks for the feedback! I agree as well. I'll have to go back and look at the original as I don't recall those being as obvious. Worth a second comb-through I think

Excellent image. I think you can get a little bit more definition to clouds by burning the darker areas .
