A fashion photographer recently died and evidently
used this lens and camera. It appears to me to be one
of the D3xxx or D5xxx cameras but I am not good at
recognizing them. Also, is anyone able to recognize the lens?

I am just a bit curious...

thanks

Might be a late model film camera, such as F100

Doesn't it say on the front of it, or maybe on the bottom where the serial number might be?
Look on the very front of the lens around the front element if it's not on the body of the lens. I can't tell from your pic, but it looks like some writing on top of it.

Yes... I believe that is it! The D3100 and possibly the 35 f/1.8...

The picture I used was a "snip" from a picture of him holding the camera.
Therefore, that was the best I could acquire...

I am not really familiar with those cameras, but it did look a bit like
what I had seen passing by the photo section at Wally world...

Thanks, Craig...

That looks like an older AFD lens. Note it has a DoF scale on it. Does the 35mm f1.8 have a scale? If it's an older, non-G lens, it would have to be manual focus, and the D3100 viewfinder isn't so great for that.

Good eye on seeing that, Kent...
He mentioned the 35 1.8 lens in the article Craig posted.
Perhaps it is not the one he mentioned at all...

I looked on the photosynthesis site...
http://www.photosynthesis.co.nz/nikon/serialno.html#35

From the size of the DoF scale, if it is a 35 then the length/size
of the scale would indicate that it is the AF-D f/2. Both the AF-S
f/1.8 and the f/1.4 G lenses have a short window...

With a little help I may get better at figuring out the lenses
people have on their cameras...
I do like to solve a mystery...(unless this is not a 35 at all...hmmm)

Thanks Kent...
