Many claim this is (slightly) sharper than the current AF-S 60mm Macro, but true or not, it is a great lens and very versatile. Personally I don't do much try macro - more close up of flowers etc - and this is so much better than messing around with diopters. A good achromat diopter will give great IQ with the right lens but at the same time it shortens the minimum focus distance it also drastically shortens the longest distance you lens will focus at - plus a good one can easily cost 1/2 what this lens is offered for or more. This lens on the other hand will focus all the way to infinity and is sharp, sharp, sharp.
