Went to the local park this morning, while dodging rain. Saw these in the parking lot, just sitting there. Obviously left behind.

Left Behind - there is your more appropriate title.

I'd pull back some on the vignetting. At first I didn't really like how the flops don't have a ton of separation from the lot, but a longer viewing makes the message of being lost/forgotten stick more for me.

This image is also stronger when I sit farther back from my monitor.

Perhaps a kiss of midtone contrast to help separate the tones even more.

Cheers!

Jeff

I'm kinda the other way on the tonal values.

The lot has so much contrast, structure and mass (more mass than the subject) that the weighting is stronger for the non-subject than the subject.

I'd consider a lower contrast overall image, and then some selective contrast for the subject to use the contrast variance to counterbalance the mass variance. Just kinda depends on where you want to draw your viewer and what you want to impress upon / convey to them.

+1 @ Jeff's title suggestion
+1 @ Kent's overall image suggestion. The pavement is hard to look away from and maybe a change to shift the light more onto the flops?

A nice find!

I really should have specified that I was only talking about the flops themselves and not the overall image.

Thanks for the input. Might have to go back and play with a little more and see what I can come up with.

I certainly like the composition. good time to have a camera with you.
the strong toning does not bother me, but it might lend itself to playing to see what else you come up with.
regards, tom
