for me?
I sold my 105E this week. too long and heavy for "me".
best lens I ever had though, easily.
I prefer balance, I shoot with two rigs on a dual cam strap.
for my tele prime, I'm actually more comfy with a 58 or 85, vs 105.
plus being that they are both under 600 grams, it balances well with either the 35 1.4 or the forthcoming 28E.
the 105E is surprisingly 985 grams. for reference, the 85 1.4G is 595 grams. the 58G is 385 grams.
the 35 1.4G is 601 grams. the 28E will be 645 grams.
So 28/85 would be 645/595 which is not too bad and nice balance on my shoulders for a 10-12 hour wedding day.
I could put the 28 on the D810 which would balance out the D750/85MM perfectly. I can always crop with the D810 too, which is nice.
during this transition, I am obviously sitting on far too many primes, many will go soon.
20 1.8
35 1.4
50 1.8
58 1.4
85 1.4
24-70 2.8E
70-200 2.8ii
12-24 f4 sigma
my intention is to utilize my gear in the following manner:
two D750's, one D810
D500 is f/s.
so three bodies...
12-24 commercial wide
70-200 ii sport
24-70e and 50 1.8 for 911 and assistant to use
my primary dual camera setup, two primes, not three*:
35/85 or 28/58, or 28/85, 28 would be the E.
not sure yet! 28 would be more versatile (group shots and/or getting ready for weddings).
any of these three setups would be ideal for me.
I will sell the 58 or 85, once I decide.
I only need two primes - for 99% of my time shooting.
which is why I went from 24/58/105 to just 35/85 (which is my go-to right now, during this trial).
*although I may keep the 20 just for light/wide needs, it's cheap.
