Has anyone successfully teathered to LR with the 1Dx ll? I cant get the camera to be recognized? The camera briefly shows up and I also get an intermittent flashing no camera detected. Anyone have an idea or a similar instance or solution?

FYI My 7d ll works fine with the same usb3 attachment cord.

Lr Version 6.5.1 / Mac os 10.11.5

No it doesn't work, we need to wait for an update. You have to use the Canon software in the meantime, then switch to LR and use the "Synchronize folder" feature.

I use EOS Utility all the time on tethered shoots to a laptop without a single hiccup yet, what's the advantage in using LR for this ?

(I am a big LR fan)

Which software?

And I'm assuming that the images will populate into LR in real time with the sync folder feature from canon software.

I haven't used EOS Utility, but with LR You can apply presets, metadata and all that to a tethered session, so it's more a workflow efficiency thing.

I tried using LR tethered once and found it very cumbersome and buggy.

Eos Utility just gets the RAW files form the camera to the laptop in a couple of seconds with a full screen preview of each shot.

I do my RAW processing in LR later, so no benefit to me I don't think.

Doesn't work yet - camera sort of half connects and then unconnects.

The advantage is that you can apply import presets. LR has never been fast enough to do realtime connection so Capture 1 seems to be the goto software to use.

only have the free sony licence and I don't use it - if I was doing more tethering I would get it for sure and go through the learning pain - LR and PS are my gotos

I just download a test 30 day Capture 1 - works perfectly for the 1DX_II - it is incredibly fast also.

EOS Utility. The stuff that comes with the camera.

There's no real time auto sync feature in LR, as far as I know. You need to right-click on the folder and elect to Synchronize Folder every time manually.

With the new upgrade to LR, the 1DX_II now works - tried it today.

Also, the new upgrade, with focus on speed, seems, I think, to have made tethering faster.

The 1DX_II can load and display 22-24 pictures in 1 minute - the 5DSR does about 15 per minute.

LR is much slower in transferring files vs C1 Pro 9. As a matter of fact LR misses transferring images when shooting at a relatively quick pace to the LT where C1 is smooth and faster.
