Hi all,

I am thinking about re-dyeing my tan MM to black, so it will be less visible against a black shirt !.

Has any one done this before ? Re-dyeing leather seems to be very "easy".

Thanks beforehand.

Jaime

The problem I see is keeping dye on leather. Heat (body) and moisture (body) may tend to cause the dye to release.

Might be easier to just sell the tan one and buy a black one... Not sure how the market is for camera bondage straps in Spain, but us Americans are all over them.

I would say, very difficult to sell. I paid a lot of import taxes so well ...

Jaime,

There is the potential of a problem with a protective coating that may or may not be used but is likely on the original strap. This may partially prevent saturation of the new dye or a uneven distribution of the color. You may want to investigate further before committing. I don't know if Matt will share any suggestions with you or not, but it is at least worth a try.

Regards,

There are very few times I say this, but... This seems like a bad idea.

I don't know how import taxes work, but if one of your buddies in the states ships you one are there still import taxes? Or would that be one of those things that's not quite kosher?
