Ok, sort of inspired by the "I want to bitch about something" thread.

In this Thread we discuss things Nikon should be aware of or take action to make our lives easier.

My concern: Why aren't the white dot markers that line up lens with the bodies in GLOW IN THE DARK paint? It seems to be an easy implementation. It would greatly help when changing lenses in dark conditions if these little dots are easily visible.

My rant over. NEXT?

I don't have anything bad to say.

I like all my Nikon gear and use it. I like what it looks like. I like the black. I like the logo.
I take pictures. Sometimes I even like them.

We should start an "extremely minor complaints" thread and merge all these posts as of lately. Then I can avoid them all at once

Sir, you are missing the point of this thread. Happiness is not allowed.

Grass isn't always greener. I was a long time Canon user, switched to Sony A7RII (not for me) and then landed with the Nikon D750 and a few of the f/1.8 G primes, which I really like. Only minor complaint is no equivalent to Canon's 600EX-RT flash system, so I had to add a few Yongnuo flashes/triggers, which ended up being much less expensive, so oh well.

I have no complaints. I'm well taken care of whenever I need something or have a question for Nikon. On top of that, the equipment I have continues to impress me day in and day out.

Nikon listened to my cry and made the D500, I'm good for many years now.

Yup, my only "serious" complaint was the lack of a modern d300 replacement. The d500 has that covered in spades, seems like, so I guess that I'm good.

I suppose that I'd still like to have a true d700 replacement, ie the d750 sensor in a d500 body with the go-fast d500 features/AF. But, I'm not really wanting that like I did the d500, so that is rather a moot point.

I'm pretty happy with my other Nikon bodies and mostly happy with the lenses. Sure, there's always something that could be "better" but the stuff I have now can get the job done.

Update the 135mm f/2. 25 year old lenses in a pro system is a joke

Sort out your lenses. When Sigma and Tamron can make better performing and built ones for half the price you need to ask some questions.

Write fine tune information from testing into the firmware of the lenses and bodies

Stop with the impact damage and ‘within factory specs’ on warranty claims

Sell spares to repair outfits

Innovate and stop trying to feed me tweaked bodies with a new sensor for a jacked up price. OK, maybe mirrorless is a step to far for you but even Pentax is managing sensor shift tech.

Put RRS/Kirk sized plates on your lenses

So, here is my counter-rant. As long as I've been on Fred Miranda, folks have pissed, moaned, whined, bitched about Nikon, corporate greed, this shortcoming, that shortcoming, etc. Folks, think about good we all have it. Nikon has, in the last 3-4 years, given us products that have allowed us to do great, amazing, creative things. With the D500 and the 200-500, we have such amazing tools; how about a little gratitude for what you have and stop complaining about what you don't. Pray that this great company makes it through. It's never been a better time to be a photographer.

For a more general perspective, see the following:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/15/opinion/sunday/when-did-optimism-become-uncool.html?_r=0

Sorry for the indulgence.

Well, we all have our wished and fully agree with what Bobmcg was writing earlier.
I am using Nikon since the D70s and each upgrade on gear allowed me to to this little extra. Just once had to turn in a lens (24-70 f2.8) for repair but for the rest all good (knock wood) so there is no complaint from my side.
What I do would love to see on future releases is more flexibility on the function button. I would love to have a function button that is assign to have a + or - exposure of x stops. When doing a safari and have my 500mm on it than I do shoot sometimes some mammals that are far away but a minute later can an eagle fly over and do I need to need to overexpose with like 1 to 1 1/3 stop.

But again, a happy Nikonian here and no bitching from my side

Yes, I would be very interested in all of these. 85/1.8G is a remarkable lens in absolute or quality/cost terms, but I find that focal length a little short for how I like to shoot portraits.

For my shaky hands, I would prefer the 135mm and 180mm to have VR. Maybe I'll just pick up a good used 105mm f/2 DC.
