NOTE: I'm not an Upload&Sell Member. My files are hosted on Flickr, which compresses the large size images. These medium res images are rendered in a manner MUCH similar to what I see in LR (anyone know a good, compression free image hosting website with free membership?) CC is encouraged however I know that medium res limits the CC possibilities. Do your best (or worst). Thanks!

Recently traveled to the Mt. Hood area and attempted to capture some PNW scenes in my free time. Unfortunately, I didn't have a tripod. These were shot handheld on T2i with Tokina 11-16, some of them balancing on a log across the river.

Welcome to FM.

Know that nothing about uploading your files to Flickr will limit any CC here. We aren't pixel peeping, Medium Resolution is more than adequate for Web presentation.

As for your photos, I like the composition in #1 quite a bit. But beyond that all of your images are hurt by several reasons.

2n1st is the shooting in sunlight in these scenes. Forest and especially water scenes will be extremely difficult to shoot and process due to the bright light from the sun competing with the shadows. And that shows in all your shots with the various blown highlights in all of them. So shooting early or late or on an overcast day is in your best interest. If not, then you need to bracket. Exposing for the highlights and bracket down to the shadows. Blending them later into an image that contains all the details.

2nd, in #4 and 5, the WA distortion with the trees is distracting. it's hard shooting up like that, but a key is shooting wide enough so that you can correct that WA distortion and still have enough of the shot left to not cut off the waterfall.

I like the compositions you were going for, but you need to shoot in some different conditions.

Welcome!
I am with Jim here, highlights are pretty blown, and WA is very pronounced...

Keep it up!

Cheers!
