Back up for sale, buyer backed out...
I've always been out to find two things- gems that have character and IQ, and affordable options where the lens outshines its price tag.
This is one of those lenses. Maybe the closest rendering in a Leica M lens that I've found to the legendary Contax 80 f2, a softer rendering that sharpens up nicely in post and bokeh for days.
At this point I've collected a ton of amazing lenses and I can't decide which. So I'm posting a few and hoping FM will decide. Will take this down once a few of my other lenses sell.
Lens is probably from around 1940, made in West Germany and has all the characteristics of Zeiss that we love. I had Steve's Camera check it out, there's definitely internal bubbling that I was told is common with a lens this age, and light internal dust, but nothing worth cleaning per Steve. He said this lens was good to go, maybe some light oil in the blades, but focusing is smooth and aperture ring still moves nicely.
Strengths: super compact, Zeiss rendering X 100, gorgeous in B&W on the MM, price.
Cons: an older lens that will need to be treated gently, will need to sharpen to taste in post.
Also including a removable Leica M mount adapter- this is a premium RF adapter that matches the lens perfectly- you probably would think it's part of the lens body. This is a pro adapter with really great build and locks nicely.
