p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Pine cones on the forest floor

I thought these pine cones and fallen pine needles might work well as a subject for black and white film. This is one of my first attempts at black and white film, so be gentle -- it certainly takes some getting used to. This shot is "as found", hence the non-ideal placement of sticks, etc.

Does this work? Any thoughts/comments/critiques appreciated.

This was shot on Delta 100 using a Mamiya RB67.

If your serious about B&W read up on the Zone System by Ansel Adams. It can easily be applied to roll film since you can have more than one film back. With a spot meter and a zone system worked out for your end product (print or screen) you determine where your high and low end details will fall and then expose and develop for those goals.

Really nice detailed textures and found composition, great subject for Delta 100. I'm not a fan of the vignette.
