It's getting a bit boring on this forum seeing numerous threads about 1DXII, 5DSR, 80D, which are generally loaded with verbiage and not much photographs (yet). I understand this forum is about gears, yet what is those superfast or super resolution cameras good for if not picture taking ?

I'll show you some fast action pictures with an old camera........my 1DX. The poor thing, it can do only 12 FPS.

In order to enliven/enrich the proceedings on this forum, you are invited to post some FAST ACTION pictures taken with older EOS cameras....the older the better.
Please identify the gears used in the production of pictures you post.

Guilty as charged.
I seldom post my shots, but I sure enjoy looking at the photos taken by others,(usually better than mine) usually I delete similar photos when holding down the shutter button on my 1D4.

I'll look for something to contribute.

Somewhere there are some decades old football photos I made, some at night, with manual film cameras. :-)

Canon EOS 10S, EF 100-300 4.5-5.6 USM, Kodak Ektar 125 • Taken sometime between 1990 and 1992. I didn't get around to scanning the darn thing until 10 years later.

Dig them out and scan them, please. Unless of course you are too busy discussing the LCD screen protectors.

Here are some of my favorite oldest photos that qualify for this thread I think, both from early 2006.

Canon 20D + Canon 300mm f/4L IS

Canon Elan 7N + Canon 70-200 f/4L (I think) using Kodak Tri-X 400

My first image post on FM, hope it works. Flying dragonflies, all shots with Canon 450D camera and most of them using MF (and often manual exposure), because AF simply doesn't work. AF will work for hovering dragonflies, but most of the time they move at high speed with erratic flight path.

My 8 year old 450D died last week and the 80D that replaces it has obviously better IQ. This should allow faster shutter speeds in the same situation - always trying to balance shutter speed, limited DOF and IQ. I'm not so sure if the 80D AF will be of much help though.

A lowly 1DX shot I liked at the UNH Horse Trials. Wish the background was more natural but this was the safe area to shoot from. Those damn poles can be very tricky with AF tracking. One area where I would actually consider the 1DX2 if it improved on the original.

Used the 70-200/2.8 IS II which I think is 6 or 7 years old now. Time flies.

Although I've never digitised my old transparencies and prints from the film days (never got around to it!) I do grin to myself at some at folk who moan about the odd mis-focus despite the technological marvels that SLR's and lenses are today.

I used to regularly frequent the local race tracks around where I live with a Canon A1, slow manual focus lenses and a 2 FPS motor wind and I still got some cracking photos. It could work out quite expensive getting through rolls of film to get that shot so you learned proper focus techniques for moving targets! Today with fast autofocus, AF tracking, 10-14 fps and the only limit to how many shots you can take is the capacity of your memory card I do wonder how many would have stuck with photography if they started 30-40 years ago?

I used a 5D Mark II this morning (borrowed it for a critical shoot while my 1D Mark IV is being serviced). Dang that thing is sloooooow.

This is probably the fastest setup I have at my disposal right now: 1DX + 200 f/2 IS.
Unfortunately, 200mm FL is generally too limiting for wildlife, and one has to go thru hoops in order to ensure sufficient proximity to target. However, when it does work, then it shines.

1DX + 200 f/2.8 IS

You take it easy now, Zenon. Have you tried smoking a joint or two ? That might help.
By now you can probably buy that stuff in your corner convenience store.
BTW, good action shooting !

Great idea Peter. I am digging up some slide scans but suddenly come to think they were not shot using Canon cameras Even the slide scanner was a Nikon...

I started digital photography in 2011 with a Canon 50D...Most pictures I thought were good at the time were horrible...this is one of the few that are passable. They were bad not because of the camera but of my skill level...
