p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Panoramic Patagonia

Having never really done much in Panorama's - one of the goals on the recent trip to Patagonia was to try and shoot a few - if the opportunity presented itself.

Both are 5 shot panos - stitched in photoshop - then downsized to fit here.

The first is from TDP - and was taken around 11:30 at night. The full moon presented a wonderful scene - and one that was so bright, I had to significantly reduce exposure settings relative to "normal" night shooting.

The second is Perito Moreno glacier just outside El Calafate. The park "closes" at sunset - so it was kind of fun being the last ones out of this very popular place.

Thanks for looking

Todd

Hey Todd,

Nice views here. #1 is sure very cool with the stars in it. #2 is a pretty different view, the composition works well. I do think the highlights look a bit blown though towards the right side, and on the left peaks there is some smudging around them, usually an indication that too much Highlight Recovery was used. What are you using for your raw conversions?

Jim;
I typically start with Lightroom - then finish them off in photoshop. Comparing what is posted here and what I have as an original - they do look a bit different. I'll take a closer look - perhaps I did screw something up -
(always a strong possibility - just ask my wife)
Thanks for pointing it out.

Nice shots Todd.
question: Did you use any kind of panorama gear for these images?

Kee - yes - I used a RRS multi-row "elements" set-up. I bit clunky - but it breaks down into pieces pretty easy.

Harsha - we must have crossed paths! I was there with a buddy Apr 11-25.

Both are fantastic thought agree with Jim that the first one needs a little more at the bottom. The perspective of the second is pretty nifty it works well.

Sweet shots Todd.

The first feels a little cut off to me on the bottom until I click on it for a black background. Then it really soars.

The second one is a powerful presentation. Aside from the highlights being a little hot and vignette a tad heavy for my taste, it rocks! Beautiful. Gives me nice memories.
