I think I need to sell off my 16-35/4 for this. I think 95% of my shots with that lens are at 16, and only because no matter how hard I twist, it won't go any wider once I go beyond 35, I tend to want to go as wide as possible!

*maniacal, out of control wide angle laughter*

Then test out the sigma mc11 with the 24-35/2. And if that works fast enough in reception lighting, sell off my 28/2!

Then I'd just need to sell off my 70-200/4 for the batis 85 and I think I'd be set!

10; 24-35/2; 55/1.8; 85/1.8; 90/2.8m;

I just pre-ordered one. Crossing my fingers, it's going to be a great lens.

FWIW, the Cosina Japanese site is indicating May 26 availability for the 10/5.6 FE mount (as indicated by Fred in the first post) and June 17 for M mount. Don't see M-mount listed on B&H or Cameraquest yet (other than the deposit option).

On the Cosina site the M mount is 20000 JPY less than the FE mount version.

Pre-ordered this, the 12mm and 15 months ago direct from the Australian distributor. This is the one I'm most looking forward to.

130 degrees is seriously wide.

The U.S. pricing of the E-mount version is really nice compared to Japan where the cheapest street price prior to release is 133920 yen. M-mount is 116820 yen. These prices are from Map Camera. Cosina's site lists the official prices that are generally higher than street prices (155K and 135K yen).

Being in Japan I preordered one back in March but after all the trouble with 15/4.5 III I will go pick it up in person and test it at the dealer before I bring it home.

For Cosina lenses, you should check Araicamera. They usually have cash back/discount for those lenses.

Agree on U.S pricing, very tempting. Cameras' price in Japan is insanely high now. 5DsR is still ~$3800, A7RII ~ $3500 . And those are lowest street price right now, authorized dealer like yodobashi or mapcamera are selling them for a lots higher.

The one I'm most interested in is the 12mm. Because 12mm, 18mm, 28/35mm is my UWA/WA prime dream team.

Thanks for the info on Araicamera. Being in Tokyo, I'm mostly familiar with Tokyo area camera stores, including many 2nd hand stores. Araicamera seems to be in Hyogo prefecture, quite far from here. Their online prices seem quite similar to Map Camera, Fujiya Camera and various other Tokyo area stores. I will keep an eye on their site from now on as well. Normally I buy my lenses from local stores, though I get all Sony lenses from Sony online shop.

I agree that certain camera prices are too high in Japan, including A7RII, A7SII and RX1R2. A7II, A7r and A7 on the other hand have been priced much more reasonably here. I've got a nice set of Cosina / Voigtländer M & LTM glass already (9 lenses) but still interested in getting some of the new E-mount versions, especially 12mm if I can find that on a decent price at some point. Might have to buy one from abroad if Japan price is again too high.

I preordered about a week or so ago. I love shooting wide and don't think I've ever shot this wide without a fisheye! Hopefully QC, especially in the corners is spot on for this lens . . .

Having done (too) much buying and selling over the years here in Japan as a result of GAS, I agree, it very much depends on what you're interested in. The a-mount 300G2 and 500G, for instance, are competitively priced here, whereas they cost more than the Canikon competition in the US or Europe. I don't mind buying memory cards or filters online, but lenses or cameras? I prefer buying them from a handful stores in Tokyo that have been around for decades, have friendly and knowledgable staff and actually help you, if equipment is faulty/broken.

As for the new CV lens? I'm afraid, I'm not going to spend that much money on such a slow lens, since for me the main purpose of a 10mm lens would be astrophotography. I hope that those of you who have pre-ordered a copy, don't have to go through the lottery again to get a good copy.

I agree that buying from local Tokyo stores works well, I also prefer buying from local physical stores that have good service level and reasonable prices, except for new Sony items (since I get some discounts in online store and can get service at Sony Akihabara service shop if needed). I accumulated some 45-50 lenses from various local stores mostly over the last several years, including many manual legacy lenses. Mostly M-mount, Minolta MC/MD and Pentax K in addition to Sony & Zeiss FE lenses.

Also a bit worried about the QC issues reported on the CV 15mm recently here. My own 15 v3 M-mount is a good one and I'm not rebuying that in E-mount. Also haven't had any problems with my other CV lenses up to now, but a bit concerned about the upcoming 12mm E-mount which I might buy.

I love my Canon 8-15L fisheye...works great on the A7RII with the metabones adaptor. So naturally this lens has my attention, but am I willing to give up the 8-15L for it? Tough call...

Ordered. If this comes lose to a Choppy in the corners this could be a very fun lens to use in the right setting.

Let the testing begin😳

Not sure I would use it all that much, kinda like buying a fisheye. Gets old pretty quick. See how it looks on release
