p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Fuji FD and Voigtlander Question

I came across this image over at dpreview and was wondering how they are adapting this Voigtlander to the Metabones FD to Fuji adapter?

I think some of the Voigtlander SL lenses were available in FD mount. Pretty sure I came across the 90mm f/3.5 in FD at one point when I was looking for one in Nikon mount.

Yes, that's right. The original SL lineup was available in a variety of mounts:

Nikon AIS,
Canon FD,
Pentax K-A,
Pentax 42mm Screw Mount,
Minolta MD,
Contax / Yashica MM, and
Olympus OM.

To me this looks like a Nikon mount Voigtlander with a Nikon to FD adapter, they do make those because the FD flange is fairly small for an SLR

Good eyes. I agree, it looks like there's an adapter between the Metabones and the lens.

Register, a.k.a. flange focal distance (FFD):

17.7 mm, Fuji X
42.0 mm, Canon FD
46.5 mm, Nikon F

On second thought, I figure the lens is either Pentax K or Contax/Yashica mount. The Nikon should have "prongs"; the Olympus should have DOF and mount-release buttons; the Minolta MD register is too close to the FD register for an adapter that thick; and a M42 adapter wouldn't have a mount-release gizmo for the adapter (the silver lever on the left side of the adapter, right side as looking at the photo).

I have that same Nikon adapter. They also make a similar one that's OM to FD and a m42 to FD. You can find them on Ebay.

I think its a Nikon mount lens, it has the second small row of aperture numbers 'behind' the main ones. AiS lenses dont need the 'prongs', or 'rabbits ears' which were for setting the meter in older cameras (Nikkormat etc)
My 40 mm SLII Iin Nikon mount looks just the same.

Good point. I just checked photos of the Nikon-mount 40/2 Ultron Asp SL II that I sold in 2012, and it did not have prongs.

Cool... I was under the impression that they only came in M mount. Didn't know they all came in all those mounts.

Nikon AIS,
Canon FD,
Pentax K-A,
Pentax 42mm Screw Mount,
Minolta MD,
Contax / Yashica MM, and
Olympus OM.
