... My 5D and 1Ds2 no longer render images as they once did. Since the release of the Canon 1DxII, their value … both monetary, and the ability to capture images that once had a certain appeal … have been compromised, never to render a “proper” image again.

An example is presented here as proof … and this was with an “L” lens …

Extreme distortion is now present ...

I have come to the realization that DR, pixel density and DxO score, rule … and the pay to play ticket will be the determining factor in forum hierarchy for the foreseeable future …

Obviously this image must have been captured by the new 1Dx2 then. It's one of the best images I've seen in a long time. Very art looking

I think art is out of the realm of technical discussion.

... This is what I mean ... after viewing images from the 1DxII, images from older bodies are not even recognizable as images ... they appear as "an artistic rendition" of an image ...
if visible at all

I think it was just shot at ISO 512000 which the 1Dx II handles easily

Jeffer, I am afraid you have started to drink again, thus I shall not engage you in a discussion of your camera obsolescence caused by the advent of 1DXII.

However, it behooves us to say that your photograph has major charm and aesthetic quality about it.

I've just discovered my old 30D fares worse against the 1DxII.
The first image is the way a shot from the 30D appeared before the 1DxII made it's way to market ... the second image is the way it appears now.

I realize that some new owners of the 1DxII may appreciate the second image over the older image, some may not see it at all ... but that's just the way of the camera world we live in today ...

30D image as it appeared before the introduction of the 1DxII ...

Same 30D image as it appears post 1DxII introduction ...

Doomed, simply doomed, G12, 40D, 50D, Peter's former 7D and 1DMk2N will never be enough, even an old 6D won't compete with the 1DX2er's, hangs head sadly, now completely shamed

Yes, I too have suffered greatly. I just recently learned that my favorite dinner prepared with award winning ingredients and rare vintage wine choices are not shared or appreciated by the vast majority.

Now after viewing this image produced by my venerable Digital Rebel I see it is really horrible with incredible distortion, artifacts and blurry.

Soooo sad.

... Your image invokes hunger pangs ... I found images captured with the 5D ... from a recent possum roast and beer fest ... before the 1DxII, the image of the main course appeared "crispy" ... and now ... not appetizing at all

Even the beer appeared unfiltered ... then again, maybe it wasn't ...

My fond memories ... lost forever.

Wow, that image... I hit refresh at least half a dozen times to get it to load.

"Ghosting" has now become common ... here, the 1DxII phenomenon added a backseat driver where one was not present before.

I believe this is a Canon ploy to force one to purchase the new body if just to preserve ones' portfolio ...

I love images of old BMW's even if the panning could have been a tad better
